MTS Uzbekistan serves over 8m people
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Current subscribers’ number of MTS Uzbekistan exceeded 8 million point, the operator said in a statement on 14 September 2010.

Within 2010, MTS Uzbekistan gradually increased subscriber base. Between December 2009 to September 2010, subscribers’ number of MTS Uzbekistan rose by 14% and reached 8 million. This means that 28% of population of Uzbekistan use MTS service.

Oleg Raspopov, vice president and director of business-unit “MTS Foreign Companies”, said: “One of the main priorities of MTS Uzbekistan development strategy is maximal satisfaction of consumers needs in quality and affordable communication, meeting modern standards. Introduction of new tariff offers, increasing subscriber services, introduction of innovative technologies and services and launch of the first commercial LTE in the CIS states became foundation for that over 8 million people selected mobile communication from MTS.”

The operator said within its programme on improving communication quality and expanding coverage area, MTS Uzbekistan introduced new basic stations in various regions of the country to provide quality mobile communication. The coverage area rose and now covers 94% of population territory of Uzbekistan. Currently, 3G network of MTS Uzbekistan, launched in the end of 2008, covers five largest cities of Uzbekistan. The company plans to cover all regional centers of Uzbekistan with 3G network.

MTS Uzbekistan currently covers central part of Tashkent city and in future the company plans to expand 4G coverage area in all largest cities of Uzbekistan.
