Technologies 29/01/2009 MTS-Uzbekistan expands its 3G network

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- MTS-Uzbekistan, a subsidiary of Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), said that it launched 3G network in five cities of Uzbekistan.

The company said it expanded its 3G network to Bukhara, Urgench and Khiva in January 2009. In December 2008, MTS-Uzbekistan launched 3G network in Tashkent and Samarkand cities.

Tahir Irgaziev, marketing director of MTS-Uzbekistan, said: “We are happy that 3G network is expanding everyday and it became available for MTS subscribers in such cities as Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench and Khiva. Citizens of Uzbekistan and tourists, who arrived in ancient cities of Uzbekistan, can use email, file application and load heavy content fast.”

He said MTS-Uzbekistan is planning to develop its new generation network, expanding coverage area, expansion of existing services and provide new opportunities for mobile communication.
