MTS Uzbekistan expands geography of international roaming
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- MTS Uzbekistan, largest mobile communication operator of Uzbekistan and 100% subsidiary of Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems, launched international roaming based on LTE technology and expanded list of roaming partners in December 2010.

In December 2011, MTS Uzbekistan and VivaCell-MTS (Armenia), part of MTS Group, successfully tested roaming service in their LTE networks and signed a protocol of intention, setting goals and functions of operators in organization of mutual LTE-roaming.

The operator also launched international 3G roaming, which allows to use high-speed data transfer, at the network of Vodafone (Germany) in December 2010. It added that the speed at network of roaming partner, using HSDPA technology, can reach 3.6 Mbps.

Currently, subscribers of MTS Uzbekistan with handsets, supporting UMTS (HSDPA) standard, can receive access to high-speed data transfer with 3G roaming at networks of 88 operators in 55 countries.

MTS Uzbekistan also launched GPRS-roaming service with Vodafone (Germany). Currently, MTS Uzbekistan subscribers can use GPRS-roaming at the network of 148 operators in 86 countries of the world.

Subscribers of MTS Uzbekistan can use international voice roaming service at the networks of 339 operators in 177 countries.
