MTS to construct LTE network in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- MTS Uzbekistan, 100% subsidiary of Russia’s Mobile TeleSystem, received permission of the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information (UzACI) to use existing diapason of frequencies to construct LTE network in Uzbekistan.

Largest mobile operator of Uzbekistan also inked agreement with China’s Huawei on constructing LTE network in Uzbekistan based on equipment of Chinese vendor.

The agreement envisages formation of project working group on introduction of LTE in Uzbekistan and creating pilot zone of LTE network in Tashkent within 2010-2012.

The agreement also stipulates development of technical solutions in construction of network based on new technologies taking into account configuration of existing 2G/3G networks. Huawei will undertake training of MTS Uzbekistan employees on the base of existing LTE network of Vodafone.

Oleg Raspopov, director of MTS-Foreign Companies division, said MTS recently launched 3G network in Uzbekistan and it intends to introduce leading technologies in telecommunication sphere further.

He added the permission of the UzACI to construct LTE network and agreement with Huawei will promote further operative introduction of the technology and give new impulse for development of all telecommunication sector of Uzbekistan.

Wan Kasyan [transliterated], Huawei President on CIS states, said the company is proud that Huawei equipment will be used in construction of the first LTE network in the CIS.
