MTS says new license suspension is unjustified
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Mobile TeleSystems OJSC sent an official letter to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov with an appeal to clarify the situation and resolve the issues for MTS-Uzbekistan, the operator said in a statement.

MTS believes that suspension of license of Uzdunrobita, a 100% subsidiary of MTS in Uzbekistan, is groundless. It added that Uzdunrobita implemented all orders of the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information (UzACI).

On 27 July 2012, UzACI filed a petition to the Tashkent Economic Court to extend the suspension of the MTS-Uzbekistan initially suspended by the Regulator on 17 July 2012, for ten days for a period of three months. The Regulator requested suspension of the license for a longer period of time despite the fact that the Company has timely reported that it has duly complied with all of the Regulator’s requirements.

In the Company’s opinion, the actions of the Regulator aimed at the suspension of the MTS-Uzbekistan license for a new period of three months are illegal and unjustified.

Tashkent Economic Court prolonged suspension of license of MTS Uzbekistan for three months on 20 July 2012. According to the UzACI, the company did not stop to use three microwave lines in Tashkent region and Tashkent city.
