Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The head of the Uzcharmsanoat association, Fakhriddin Boboev, held a meeting with the general director of the gas chemical complex MTO Masrur Shakirov. 

The topic of discussion was the implementation of the investment project of the MTO GCC in Bukhara, which will supply the necessary raw materials from EVA material for the production of specialized products used in the leather and footwear industry.

At the beginning of the meeting, the conditions and implementation of investment projects, their development, legal, financial and technical aspects were discussed. The issue of production control and cooperation between enterprises on the basis of cooperation was also touched upon.

The MTO gas chemical complex is one of the largest plants for the production of polymer products using MTO technology (Methanol to Olefin), processing natural gas with less valuable components. Polymer products with a volume of 730,000 tons provided raw materials for the needs of the domestic market of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The production enterprise occupies an area of 15 hectares in the free economic zone of Karakul district of Bukhara region.

The project is planned to be launched by 2025 and provides for deep processing of natural gas and production of polymer products with a capacity of 1 million 110 thousand tons.

The construction of a gas chemical complex makes it possible to diversify the economy, as well as create domestic gas, and finished products with high added value. The products of the gas chemical complex can also serve as raw materials for neighboring industries.

For example, shoe soles made of EVA granules, sports mats, plates, sports accessories, small parts for cars made of EVA material. With 100% utilization of the existing EVA capacity, it is possible to produce 400 million pairs of shoes or 100 million square meters of sports mats per year. By 2023, polymer imports exceeded US$36 million, and by 2024 imports of US$44 million are expected.

At the end of the meeting, a certificate of entry into the Uzcharmsanoat association of the gas chemical complex MTO was presented.
