MPs consider amendments to law “On radiation security”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- MPs of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan discussed a draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments to the Law of Uzbekistan “On radiation security”.

The document was introduced to parliament on initiative of MPs Alihanov, Tursunov and Kuvatov. The law introduces changes and amendments to the Law of Uzbekistan “On radiation security”.

The law explains meaning of “radioactive waste”, which determined as “any means in any condition, which are not designed for further use and includes radioactive nuclide higher than norms and rules of Uzbekistan”.

The law also introduces new article 61, envisaging mandatory insurance of employers’ responsibility in case of damage to their life or health, property of legal entities and individuals at execution of works with radiation-dangerous production objects.

During discussions, MPs from Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan underlined that changes and amendments to the law will help to improve implementation of the Law of Uzbekistan “On radiation security” and strengthen responsibility in place on protection of population health and environment.

After discussions, Legislative Chamber approved concept of the law and adopted it in the first reading. MPs ordered to corresponding committee to prepare the law for the second reading.
