MPs approve programme of creating jobs for 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan approved a programme of creating jobs and ensuring employment for 2012.

During the session of the Chamber, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare of Uzbekistan Aktam Haitov presented a report on execution of the programme of creating jobs and ensuring employment for 2011 and a draft of the programme of creating jobs and ensuring employment for 2012.

Aktam Haitov said that 815,500 new jobs were created in Uzbekistan in January-September, of which 512,400 were created in rural areas. He said that number of employed in the country grew by 2.5% to 11.9 million people.

He said that non-state sector employs 79.4% of people, including small businesses and private entrepreneurship – 74.2%. Majority of them are employed in construction, housing-communal sector and domestic services of population, trade and public catering, transport and communication.

The Uzbek official said that 296,100 new jobs were created in small business sector in nine months of 2011, including 89,700 in private business.

Presenting draft programme for 2012, Haitov said that it is aimed at providing jobs to population through using full economic potential of territories and industries, rational use of labour resources, etc. He said that the programme envisages to create 967,500 new jobs in 2012.

After the discussion, the Legislative Chambers approved implementation of the programme in 2011 and a draft document for 2012. The parliament adopted a corresponding resolution.

Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan considered other issues of its jurisdiction.
