Most Americans consider China to be the greatest threat to the United States

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to a survey conducted by the American Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), most US citizens consider China to be the main threat to their country’s national security.

However, judging by the results of the poll, most experts in the United States, as well as Europe and Asia, are convinced that it is impossible to oppose China as the Trump administration does, reports the South China Morning Post (China).

Experts are convinced that the United States will be able to prevail in the war against China if such a conflict occurs in the near future. However, about who will emerge victorious if such a war happens in ten years, the opinions of experts are already divided - only slightly more than half of the respondents said that the United States would win.

While the US continues to outpace China militarily on most metrics, Beijing has recently begun to rapidly build up its military power. However, the overwhelming majority of those surveyed still believe that the risk of armed conflict remains low.

The CSIS survey also showed that experts are generally in favor of banning the participation of the Chinese company Huawei in the deployment of 5G networks. At the same time, most experts recommend abandoning the strategy promoted by the administration of US President Donald Trump to gradually end all cooperation with China and recommend maintaining the partnership with China in certain areas.

When asked which course would be most effective in countering China as a threat to US national security, 80% of American experts, 75% of foreign analysts, and 45% of American citizens responded that cooperation with like-minded states would be the most effective approach. Such results run counter to the positions of Donald Trump, who does not believe in the principles of multilateral relations and acts guided by the slogan "America first".
