Moscow and Tashkent sign agreement to write off Uzbekistan’s US$865m debt

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia and Uzbekistan signed an agreement on settlement of mutual financial claims and liabilities.

Finance Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov and his Russian counterpart Anton Siluanov signed the agreement in Tashkent on 10 December.

In line with the agreement, the Russia will write off US$865 million debt of Uzbekistan.

Anton Siluanov said: “The overall debt is US$890 million, of which US$500 is main debt.”

He added: “The Uzbek side will repay us US$25 million, the Russia will write off other part of the debt.”
