The aim of the month is to draw the attention to the disease and raise the awareness of the population. It is planned to organize various events dedicated to this disease.
Said Ibragimov, senior endocrinology doctor and head of National Specialize Center on endocrinology, said that over 320 million people have diabetes worldwide. Some 118,000 people with diabetes were registered in Uzbekistan, but there are also many overlooked.
Ibragimov said that during the months, people will be called to test their blood and receive consultations from doctors on diabetes.
On 14 November, the World Diabetes Day, all endocrinology clinics will be held open doors and all can test their blood for free and receive consultations. Mobile teams will also visit large enterprises and test bloods of their works.
It is also planned to hold two conferences dedicated to treatment of diabetes. Banners on diabetes will be placed on streets.
