Mobiuz launches 930 base stations in the first half of the year

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over six months of 2020, Mobiuz, a mobile operator in Uzbekistan, directed over 100 billion soums to technical development and modernization of networks.

Mobiuz sumed up the results of the first half of this year. Expanding coverage and increasing the capacity of 4G / 3G networks in the regions of Uzbekistan became one of the key areas of the company’s activity during this period.

At the same time, it is worth noting that more than 3 months of work was carried out under quarantine, introduced as part of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, in compliance with all sanitary norms and requirements.

As part of the ongoing Mobiuz Development Concept for 2019-2021, stage-by-stage work is underway to fully equip existing base stations (BS) with 4G / 3G standards, replace obsolete BS equipment with modern ones, upgrade the transport network to pass a large amount of data transfer traffic, expand channel switching (CS) and packages (PS). All this, ultimately, also contributes to the creation of favorable conditions for the development of the digital economy in Uzbekistan.

As part of the planned work for 2020, the Mobiuz Technical Unit successfully launched 930 BS only in the first half of the year. The operator’s team broadcast from several to dozens of BS per day. For example, in a week, from May 25 to May 31, a record number was launched - 134 BS in the republic.

At the same time, 51 of the total number of launches are completely new sites. In particular, the quality of communication and Internet speed has been significantly improved in such remote settlements as the villages of Uzynkol, Jamansha, Shortanbai (Nukus district) in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Tagan (Yangyaryk district), the village of Khairobod (Koshkupyrsky district) in the Khoremsky region, and the Tallashkon makhalla ( Angora region) in Surkhandarya and others.

In April-May 2020, the Mobiuz technical team successfully coped with the external challenges caused by the vagaries of nature. 24/7 specialists worked on the restoration of communication facilities in Bukhara and Syrdarya regions. In Bukhara region, communication facilities in Alat and Karakul district were damaged due to a hurricane, and in Syrdarya region, part of the territory of Sardorba, Akaltyn, and Mirzaabad districts remained without communication due to a breakthrough. Thanks to well-coordinated work, all objects are gradually restored.

“Mobiuz subscribers are one of the most active users of the mobile Internet. They quickly master new technical solutions and capabilities of mobile networks. The huge demand for data services confirms us in the correctness of the chosen strategy - to build universally new facilities, continue to modernize existing networks, increase the convenience and accessibility of the Internet,” Sardor Tajiev, spokesman for Mobiuz PR, said.

Based on the chosen strategy, the company plans to commission at least 200 more base station in the second half of the year, complete preparatory work at the current facilities for a full transition to 4G LTE. Considerable attention will be paid to the transport network, in particular, the completion of the reconstruction of 340 spans in 8 service centers is forecasted. A large volume of highly specialized work is also awaiting.
