Mobile World Congress 2022 kicks off in Barcelona

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Mobile World Congress (MWC 2022) is one of the largest events that opens its doors to representatives of the ICT industry, business communities and lovers of innovative technologies from all over the world. By tradition, the event is held at the Fira Barcelona exhibition complex, bringing together 1800 companies from more than 183 countries this year. Over 1000 expert speakers will take part in forums and meetings during the event.

The main topics of the event will be 5G technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud technologies, Financial technologies and services, the Internet of Everything, as well as the application of innovations for vertical industries.

Huawei, as a major ICT company, is a regular participant in the Mobile World Congress. In 2022, Huawei will highlight the latest innovations in its booths and forums to build a simplified, clean, and intelligent infrastructure to support the sustainable development of the world. Through innovative technologies and solutions, Huawei is committed to helping carriers build a better ICT infrastructure, delivering an optimal consumer experience and accelerating the digital transformation of the industry.

On 27 February, ahead of MWC, Huawei held a forum called Lighting Up the Future, which covered the benefits of 5G, the opportunity to build new business models and accelerate the commercial success of 5G, and the creation of green, reliable, efficient and intelligent ICT. - an infrastructure that will enable digital and intelligent transformation operators to increase efficiency and achieve new growth.

The global digital economy is developing at a rapid pace, and in 2022 more than 50% of global GDP will be digitized. Many countries and regions such as China, South Korea and the EU have already announced huge digital economy investment plans. During his keynote speech, Huawei Executive Director and Director of Carrier Business Ryan Dean explained that the viability of the digital economy can be measured by three factors: connection density, diversity of computing resources, and carbon reduction intensity, and that these factors give operators leverage, they need to shape the future of the digital economy.

“By increasing connectivity density, operators can increase their 5G user base and scale up their business. In terms of reducing carbon emissions, new green ICT solutions like Huawei's will increase network capacity and reduce energy consumption for greener development,” added Ryan Dean.

Commercial rollout of 5G began two years ago, and since then, the number of 5G networks, users, and devices has grown rapidly. By the end of 2021, more than 200 operators have deployed commercial 5G networks serving more than 700 million 5G users. In Uzbekistan, three telecom operators have already conducted pre-commercial testing of fifth generation networks.

The Mobile World Congress will be held from 28 February to 3 March 2022. Given the interest in accelerating the digital transformation of Uzbekistan, a delegation of mobile operators and ICT regulators is participating in the event to share experiences and study digital trends that can be further applied to strengthen ICT infrastructure of the Republic.
