Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on 19 September, noted that there is a crisis of confidence in the world, problems are increasing in the activities of global security institutions and a departure from norms of international law.

“All this is causing growing tension in the world. Geopolitical tensions are creating new obstacles to free exchange of trade, investment and innovation. The dialogue has been noticeably undermined even on issues concerning the fate of all humanity, such as climate change, the fight against hunger and inequality,” said the head of Uzbekistan.

“In such a difficult situation, it is more necessary than ever to preserve the spirit of agreement and practical cooperation, to unite countries on the basis that common interests are higher than existing contradictions,” he added.

The President recalled that last year Uzbekistan put forward the Samarkand Solidarity Initiative in the name of common security and prosperity. “Our main goal is a deep awareness of responsibility for the present and future of our countries and peoples, involving all parties ready for open and constructive cooperation in the global dialogue,” Mirziyoyev noted.

“I am confident that holding the Future Summit next year, at the initiative of the UN Secretary-General, will serve to solve pressing problems of international and regional development and further increase the influence and authority of our Organization,” he said.
