Ministry of Energy denies reports of power outages

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has denied social media reports that electricity will be cut off daily from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Previously, the ministry reported increased loads on some energy facilities in Tashkent due to the extreme heat. As a result, it was necessary to introduce short-term restrictions for consumers in the capital to prevent possible system failures and uncontrolled mass outages.

Some Telegram channels and websites misinterpreted this message, claiming that electricity would be cut off from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the ministry noted.

The Ministry of Energy emphasized that no power outages are planned for the coming days during this time.

"The message stated that if there is a risk of an emergency situation in some areas due to overloading in hot weather, that network or transformer could be temporarily shut down for cooling," the ministry clarified.

The ministry reiterated that there is currently no shortage of electricity generation in Uzbekistan, and no forced outages are planned. The power system has 1300 MW of reserve capacity.
