Ministry of Culture to move to former MFERIT building
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan will move to a historic building in Taras Shevchenko street, where formerly the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade (now the Ministry of Foreign Trade) was located.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this on 3 August during the meeting with representatives of the creative intelligentsia of Uzbekistan.

The head of state noted that throughout the world the Ministry of Culture is located in beautiful and majestic buildings, as they are considered the face of the country.

Mirziyoyev said that the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan is working in inconvenient conditions, in a building where there are mainly official departments.

"This does not allow the cultural community, creative people to visit the ministry freely, hold various creative events here," President said.

It should be noted that headquarters of Asaka Bank is located in the building. The building was built in 1898 for the Tashkent Real School.
