Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 July, in Dushanbe, under the coordination of the Bureau for Coordination of the Fight against Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Crimes within the CIS member states (BCOP), the fourth Meeting of Heads of Capital Units of Internal Affairs Agencies of CIS Member States took place. 

The meeting was dedicated to the theme: "Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking in the Conditions of a Modern Megacity," as reported by the press service of the Executive Committee of the CIS.

The meeting was chaired by the Chief of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Dushanbe, Major General of Police Saidzoda Shokhrukh Abdufatokh. Representatives from the capital units of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and BCOP participated in the meeting.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Police Lieutenant General Rahimzoda Ramazon Khamro, opened the meeting.

Director of BCOP, Police Lieutenant General Oleg Fedorovich Konovalov, addressed the participants with welcoming remarks.

During the discussions on the designated theme, issues of illegal migration, modern technologies as tools for drug-related crimes, and prospective areas of intergovernmental cooperation among capital units of CIS member states in combating illicit trafficking of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and their precursors in the near future were considered.
