Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 June 2021, the Minister of Finance Timur Ishmetov held a meeting with a delegation led by Jurgen Rigterink, First Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The EBRD delegation included Zsuzhanna Hargitay, new Managing Director for Central Asia, Alkis Drakinos, EBRD Representative in Uzbekistan, Francis Malidge, Managing Director of the Bank’s Financial Institutions Sector, and others.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Finance Odilbek Isakov, Director of the Department for Reforming State Banks Jamshid Abdushukurov and Director of the Department for Work with International Financial Organizations Ajiniyaz Kaipnazarov.

The main topic of the meeting was the reform of state banks. The parties discussed the process of transformation and privatization of banks, the participation of the EBRD in these processes, existing problems and plans for the future.

The meeting also discussed the development of the capital market and reforms in the field of public-private partnerships, as well as future support and the role of the EBRD in these processes.
