Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, held a working meeting with Koichi Hagiuda, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, in Tokyo.

During the conversation, both sides expressed mutual gratitude for years of fruitful cooperation and consistent support.

The parties discussed prospects for further developing bilateral relations and strengthening the partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan.

Sherzod Shermatov thanked the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) for organizing Japan’s first national pavilion within the framework of ICT WEEK, scheduled to take place in Tashkent in autumn 2025. He noted that the Uzbek side is fully prepared for the successful hosting of this large-scale event.

This initiative opens broad opportunities for Japanese companies to engage directly with Uzbekistan and deepen cooperation in the IT sector.

Minister Koichi Hagiuda particularly emphasized the significance of opening the IT park’s representative office in Tokyo, calling it an important milestone in the development of bilateral relations and a solid foundation for business partnership. He also highlighted the key role of projects aimed at developing digital human capital.

At the end of the meeting, both sides invited each other to participate in ICT WEEK 2025, which will be held in Tashkent from September 23 to 26 of this year, and agreed to continue strengthening friendly and business ties through joint initiatives.
