Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 31 October 2018, Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications (MITC) Shukhrat Sadikov met with a delegation of the German company Siemens led by Vice-President Alexander Liberov.
The meeting discussed issues of cooperation between the parties in the implementation of the project "Safe City".
Minister Shukhrat Sadikov noted that as early as the 1990s, the foundation of long-term cooperation between Uzbekistan and Siemens was founded, based on mutual trust and readiness for fruitful cooperation. At the same time, based on the results of studying international experience and working out the issue of implementing the Safe City project, it was decided to take into account Germany’s best practices in the implementation of the Safe City project.
Vice-President of Siemens, President of Siemens in Russia and Central Asia Alexander Liberov said that in the process of cooperation in March 2018, a delegation of Siemens was visiting Uzbekistan as part of a Siemens seminar on the Safe City direction for representatives of ministries and departments.
During the conversation, it was noted that at present the Center for Information Security and Assistance in Ensuring Public Order is an authorized body and a number of measures have been taken to introduce the Safe City project. A draft technical project has been developed, the stages of project implementation and the main components of the hardware-software complex have been defined.
As part of the pilot project (in Samarkand), it was proposed to determine the scope of work by the end of the year and prepare calculations that will be reflected in the Agreement.
After determining the cost of the project, the possibility of financing this pilot project, including direct investment, will be considered.
Also, a trip of the working group of Uzbekistan to the city of London is being prepared to study and get acquainted with the implemented projects "Safe / Smart City".
Minister Shukhrat Sadikov expressed hope for support in the implementation of the pilot project with the attraction of foreign direct investment and in the near future to sign the necessary documents and a roadmap.
