Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- MICS 2011 - the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey in Uzbekistan– has now completed its data collection phase.

This ambitious household survey is being carried out in cooperation between the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the Institute of Social Research under the Cabinet of Ministers and UNICEF.

Survey teams began their data collection work in April and finished in July. Data is currently being processed. Preliminary results are expected to be ready in the last quarter of 2011.

MICS 2011 looked closely at a variety of indicators impacting women and children, including health, nutrition, education, child protection, water and sanitation, and others.

Fourteen survey teams consisting of seven professionals each spent three months visiting 20,400 households in all 12 regions of Uzbekistan plus Tashkent city and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The information collected with this survey can be used to make decisions, plan and budget for the future regarding the health, education and welfare of women and children.

MICS is a UNICEF research tool used every four years in more than 50 countries around the world.
