Microsoft, Uzbek Govn’t holds talks to boost cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Microsoft led by director on work with the Governments of Central and Eastern Europe Roland Hofmann held negotiations at the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan. The sides discussed current state and perspectives of cooperation in introduction of information-communication technologies.

It was noted that Uzbekistan is carrying out great work on development and introduction of ICT in line with the corresponding programme, UzA reported.

The report said the development of special memorandum will allow to provide Microsoft products to all educational establishments of Uzbekistan on preferential bases. At the same time, the sides noted need to translate Microsoft products into the Uzbek language.

The parties exchanged opinion on developing cooperation in training IT specialists. It was said over 3,500 IT specialists trained in Uzbekistan every year and Microsoft could use this potential in developing software.

The Uzbek officials and Microsoft representatives discussed issues of protecting intellectual property and copyright in Uzbekistan. Microsoft also proposed to carry out seminars and trainings on hacker and virus attacks.

The sides explored opportunities on introduction of ICT into state governance. It was underlined the sides can ink a memorandum on introduction of programme “Inoovative Government”.

Microsoft delegation also discussed cooperation issues at the Center on training and support of young programmers and Computer Incidents Reaction Service.
