Metrology Center opens under Turin Polytechnic University
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- New Metrology Center has been opened under the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, Uzavtosanoat (Uzbek Car Industry) joint stock company said.

The company said that Hexagon Metrology, which successfully claimed Central Asian market in metrological equipment, expressed interest in cooperation with Turin Polytechnic University in 2010.

Employees of Metrology Center Shohruz Ruziev and Ruslan Hakimzyanov visited the enterprises of Hexagon Metrology in Italy and Germany to undergo internship. They learnt to work with metrology software Quindos 7 and maintenance of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).

In 2011, the Metrology center in Tashkent was equipped with coordinate measuring machine Global Advantage 09.20.08 of DEA production with sensor head LSP X-5 from Leitz and Quindos 7 software.

Purchase of new equipment allowed employees of the Metrology Center in Tashkent to participate in service works on installation and launch of control-measurement systems and training of CMMs operators at GM Powertrain Uzbekistan along with the European engineers.

New center is divided in two parts. One part is allocated to laboratory, which will conduct all necessary measurements. The second part is allocated to hold trainings for university students. So, theoretical and practical processes at the University will be integrated.

In future, it is planned that the Metrology Center under Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent will be only and main laboratory in Central Asia, which will issue expert conclusion on appropriateness of use of sample and control-measurement means.

Many important and famous guests participated at the opening ceremony of the Metrology Center under Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, the company said. Among them were Italian diplomats, specialists of the automobile industry, representatives of Hexagon Metrology, etc.

The company added that during talks with Marco Pelissero, Vice-President of Hexagon Metrology, who arrived in Tashkent for opening ceremony, the sides achieved agreement on creation of service center of Hexagon Metrology. The center will render maintenance services to CMMs of enterprises of Uzbekistan each quarter.

Marco Pelissero said: “I was very satisfied with that new Metrology Center under Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent is equipped with modern technologies. Installed equipment at the Center will be useful for Uzbekistan and neighboring states. Measuring equipments, which are installed here, will allow the most precise research and gives quality results.”

Pelissero noted that the main goal is to use advanced technologies at the enterprises of automobile industry and give opportunity to students of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent to familiarize with process in practice.
