Memorial exhibition of Ikuo Hirayama starts in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A memorial exhibition “Art and life of Uzbekistan, Japan and Great Silk Road” dedicated to life and work of Japanese painter and researcher Ikuo Hirayama started in Tashkent on 21 October 2012. The exhibition is taking place at Youth Create Palace.

Fund Forum, Fund “Ikuo Hirayama Silk Road Museum”, International Caravan-Saray named after Ikuo Hirayama organized the exhibition, which will be held till 19 November 2012.

Fund Forum said that the exhibition is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Japan.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Yoshihisa Kuroda said that he is happy that the exhibition opened in Tashkent as part of the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Japan.

He said that the exhibition once again demonstrates historic similarity of Japan and Uzbekistan and expressed hope that the visitors will highly rate the exhibit.

Toko Hirayama, representative of Fund “Ikuo Hirayama Silk Road Museum”, delivered a message of the head and spouse of Ikuo Hirayama – Michiko Hirayama. In her message, Michiko Hirayama said that her spouse visited Samarkand and Bukhara and painted people and monuments. She expressed gratitude for organization of the event.

The exhibition presented works of Ikuo Hirayama, dedicated to his visit to Uzbekistan, photos from the life of painter, etc. After the exhibition, it is planned to publish catalogue.
