The document was signed within the exhibition of folk applied art of the Uzbek people in Nara, Japan. Fund Forum and Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan organized the exhibition. The event was dedicated to the 1,300th anniversary of Nara and 12th conference of Historic Cities League (HCL), work of which was attended by Termez city governor N. Soatov. During the HCL conference, the secrearty of the organization proposed Termez to join this international organization, which unites cities with ancients history and culture.
The exhibition became one of the most visited pavilions. The special films on ancient cities of Uzbekistan in Japanese language were showed during the exhibition.
During bilateral negotiations with Termez city governor, governor of Nara prefecture Shogo Arai welcomed participation of the Uzbek delegation at HCL conference in Nara, which will allow to boost ties between Termez and Nara. Japanese governor supported initiative on establishing twin towns relations.
Shogo Arai in interview to Jahon said that he will do his best to establish relations of twin towns between Termez and Nara, as well as help to increasing Japanese tourists’ inflow to Uzbekistan.
At the talks with Termez city governor, Mayor of Nara Gen Nagawa underlined that Uzbekistan is beautiful country, which has great tourism potential. He said that he is ready to deepen cooperation between two cities.
The memorandum between Termez city administration and Public Committee on establishment of Nara-Uzbekistan Friendship Association was inked within the exhibition in Nara.
Chairman of the Committee Yo. Ichikawa said that the memorandum opens opportunities for more close cooperation between Termez and Nara. He said that he is ready to increase academic and student exchange between University of Nara and Termez State University and hold international symposiums.
