A draw at JAR Stadium would be enough send Bunyodkor through to the knockout stages but after suffering two defeats away from home, they would face an away match in the knockout stage with Saudi Arabia’s Ettifaq already assured of top spot and a home tie.
Bunyodkor have a 100% record domestically after 10 games and are already on course to defend their title, but their inconsistent form on the continental stage leaves Memet’s side needing a point to advance, while a slip up in their impressive AFC Champions League home form would allow Al Shabab to advance and hand the United Arab Emirates a sole representative in the round of 16.
“We cannot make a mistake,” said Memet.
“We have already lost twice in the group stage and that has seriously damaged our chances.
“But now we are looking to qualify for the next round in second place. That does not grant us the right to play a round of 16 match at home so we have already let our fans down, a victory over Al Shabab would help smooth that on our part.”
Al Shabab beat Bunyodkor 2-0 in Dubai in March, but three defeats in the group stage leaves them needing a win to put recent domestic troubles behind them.
They are currently struggling to qualify for next year’s AFC Champions League as they sit fifth with just one game remaining.
"The game against Bunyodkor is going to be very hard and crucial," said coach Toninho Cerezo.
"We have had a disappointing defeat against Al Jazira in the league recently but this will not affect us as our attention is focused on our crucial AFC Champions League game.
"The match in Tashkent is decisive because we need to win and if we win then we will qualify to the knockout stage of the competition so we have full concentration on this game."
Al Shabab are boosted by the return of Brazilian Macrcos Assuncao from injury, while defender Walid Abbas has recovered from a shoulder injury and could feature."
