Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 September, a meeting was held between Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov with representatives of the World Bank, led by Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia for Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions Assad Alam.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Ministers of Economy and Finance Ahadbek Khaidarov and Jasur Karshibaev, Head of the World Bank Representative Office in Uzbekistan Marco Mantovanelli, Lead Economist and Program Manager for Central Asia David Knight and other responsible persons.

During the conversation, promising financing projects were discussed, including the processes of modernization and digitalization of the infrastructure of rural regions, by attracting investment in the field.

The current state of implementation of joint projects and agreements regarding World Bank support in the process of Uzbekistan’s transition to a market economy, transformation and privatization of state-owned enterprises was also discussed. Including cooperation in the implementation of a strategy to combat poverty, including programs to support and improve the professional skills of women and youth.

The Uzbek side expressed gratitude to the representatives of the Bank for the support provided in expanding bilateral cooperation.
