Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the visit of the delegation from the Alliance for Financial Accessibility (AFA), led by Executive Director Alfred Hanning, meetings took place at the Central Bank of Uzbekistan with the leadership and experts of the regulator, as well as with representatives of the Pledge Registry.

The main topics of discussion included enhancing financial accessibility and literacy, developing payment systems, and ensuring effective consumer protection rights in financial services. In the framework of the Central Bank specialists’ participation in global working groups of the AFA, particular attention was paid to the importance of financial accessibility as one of the key factors for maintaining financial stability in the country.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed on further cooperation, including the Central Bank’s chairmanship in the Regional Initiative of Eastern Europe and Central Asia (RIECA), sharing experiences with other member countries of the Alliance, and attracting technical assistance from the AFA.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has been a member of the AFA since 2018 and has held the chairmanship of RIECA since 2024, aimed at promoting standards of financial accessibility in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Mongolia, Belarus, Tajikistan, and North Macedonia.
