Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held with the participation of the EBRD on the issues of reforming large enterprises and banks with state participation. 

The meeting was attended by First Deputy Minister of Finance Omonullo Nasritdinkhodjayev and Directors of the Department for Spheres Khurshed Mustafayev and Ajiniyaz Kaypnazarov, as well as Managing Director of the EBRD for Central Asia Zsuzhanna Hargitay and Head of the EBRD Representative Office in Uzbekistan Alkis Drakinos.

During the meeting, the First Deputy Minister of Finance noted the important role of EBRD  in the reform of enterprises and banks with state participation in Uzbekistan.

They also discussed the issues of transformation of banks with state participation, that is, the work carried out by “Sanoat qurilish bank” – “UzPSB”, “Aloqa bank” and “Asaka bank” and discussed the work carried out by the EBRD, as well as the processes that should be implemented by Uzbekistan to start the transformation process.

At the same time, during the negotiations between the parties, it was emphasized that the quality of management potential at enterprises with state participation is of paramount importance, the corporate governance system is not sufficiently organized at most enterprises. It was stressed that the successful implementation of the process of reforming banks with state participation is important for the parties.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to provide the EBRD with comprehensive assistance in the process of developing bilateral cooperation, transforming enterprises and banks with state participation.
