Meeting of the Working Group established within the framework of New "Vision for Eurasia"strategic initiative

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A working group created within the framework of the New "Vision for Eurasia" strategic initiative Of the world economic forum group on political issues in Eurasia includes representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2021.

The working group consists of Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Odilbek Isakov and Deputy Minister of innovative development-Azimjon Nazarov, as well as representatives of the US government, government officials, politicians, private sector experts, and intellectual centers of China, Hungary, Great Britain, India, the Russian Federation, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, and other countries.

In order to promote the development of the Eurasian countries in the period of the Fourth industrial revolution and changing financial and economic conditions, the world economic forum launched a new strategic initiative “New perspectives for the countries of Eurasia” – a platform for regional negotiations and cooperation. This initiative is being implemented by the working group on political issues in Eurasia (hereinafter referred to as the working group), which identifies initiatives in the field of public-private partnerships in removing barriers to regional development and cooperation.

The next meeting of this working group was held on 17 September 2020 in the form of a video conference.

The main focus of the videoconference participants was on the need to review the regional economic model and national development goals that will allow the European Union to implement the "great recovery" since global growth is projected at -4.9% in 2020 and it is expected that the recovery from the crisis will be slower than initially expected.

Although many countries in the region have been effectively integrated into world markets in recent years, commodity dependence remains high, it is becoming clear that economic diversification is more important than ever, and at the same time that the global economy is not returning to “normal” and that leaders have limited ability to determine the path to recovery from the crisis.

To this end, the participants of the video conference discussed how the public and private sectors can take advantage of this situation to build a new economic future and make the region's economy more sustainable and competitive.

Also at the videoconference, members of the working group, including the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Odilbek Isakov, expressed their views on what anti-crisis programs the countries should use to create a more sustainable, innovative, and sustainable economy in the long term.
