Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 November 2024, the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Tamer Fathi Abdulsalam Hammad.
During the meeting, the current state of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt was discussed, and further steps to increase trade volumes were outlined, along with other relevant issues on the agenda.
There has been a steady increase in bilateral cooperation. In 2023, exports grew by 110%, mainly due to the supply of textile products, pharmaceuticals, electrical goods, agricultural products, and services.
Several projects are being jointly implemented with Egyptian companies in the fields of food production, geological exploration, and improvements to drinking water supply systems.
There are 15 enterprises in Uzbekistan with Egyptian capital involvement.
As a result of the negotiations, both parties agreed to hold roundtable discussions between business representatives from both countries to boost cooperation in areas such as digital economy, textile industry, transportation and logistics, pharmaceuticals, machine engineering, mining, and phytosanitary practices. They also agreed to organize a meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission in the near future.
