Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 September 2024, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhramjon Aloyev, held a meeting with the head of the Election Observation Mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Douglas Wake.
The parties discussed organizational issues related to the participation of the ODIHR observation mission in the preparation and conduct of the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Uzbekistan scheduled for 27 October 2024.
The head of the ODIHR mission was informed about the priorities of Uzbekistan’s domestic and foreign policy, including the large-scale democratic reforms being implemented in the republic under the Strategy "Uzbekistan-2030." Detailed information was also provided on the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in conducting the upcoming parliamentary elections, particularly regarding the organization of voting for citizens of the republic abroad.
Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue constructive cooperation in improving electoral legislation and practices in Uzbekistan, taking into account the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country.
Douglas Wake expressed gratitude to the Uzbek side for creating all necessary conditions for the effective functioning of the Election Observation Mission.
