The edition said that Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Russian President Vladimir Putin will exchange opinion and clarify their positions on safety in the region in connection with upcoming withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.

Presidents will also discuss rational use of trans-boundary rivers of Central Asia as Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are planning to construct large hydro power stations.

Vladimir Putin and Islam Karimov signed an agreement on ally relations in 2006 and a declaration of deepening strategic partnership last year. The trade turnover between two states reached record figures – US$7 billion.

Within the visit, the sides also are planning to sign important agreements in economic sphere, which will expand cooperation scale. In particular, it is planned to sign agreement on mutual protection of investments.

The sides will also adopt intergovernmental programme on cooperation for 2013-2014, which will serve as roadmap for boosting economic cooperation.
