Medat Kagarov’s exhibition opens in Moscow
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An exhibition dedicated to memory of people’s painter of Uzbekistan Medat Kagarov (1940-2011) has been organized at the Oriental Studies Institute of the Russian Science Academy in Moscow.

The event has been organized by the Fund Forum, Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia, Fund “Interaction of Civilizations”, Oriental Studies Institute of the Russian Science Academy and Gallery of Leonid Shishkin.

People’s painter of Uzbekistan Medat Kagarov was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 1940. He graduated Moscow Higher Painting-Industrial College. In 2003, he became academician of Uzbekistan Art Academy. His works are in collections of galleries and museums of Germany, France, Great Britain, the United States, the Netherlands, Japan, Switzerland and Russia.

Director of Oriental Studies Institute of the Russian Science Academy, Professor Vitaliy Naumin said that the event is posthumous exhibition and it became important exposition in cultural life of Moscow. He said that Medat Kagarov is wonderful painter, who personified traditions of the Uzbek and Russian painting heritage. He added that Kagarov’s works include the best traditions of Central Asian fine arts, including Uzbekistan.

Medat Kagarov possessed high technique of European painting school and he was master of miniature. He illustrated works of many poets of the East and created high figurative lithography, which were demonstrated at the exhibition.

Yekaterina Yermakova, head of departmern of Caucasus and Central Asia of State Oriental Museum, said that Medat Kagarov is extraordinary painter and created modern and mythological works.

Painter Vladimir Karasev said that painter Medat Kagarov is one of bright figures of art of Uzbekistan. He said that the painter used language of allegory and hidden symbols.
