Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 December, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on measures to accelerate the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). 

The dialogue was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as heads of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad.

During the event, further joint steps were discussed as part of the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the Organization, as well as measures to prepare for the 6th meeting of the Working Group on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.

Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Badriddin Abidov informed the participants about the work done on joining the WTO and introduced them to the priority tasks to accelerate this process in 2023.

The importance of intensifying the activities of the country’s diplomatic missions abroad was emphasized. In this context, the ambassadors of the Republic of Uzbekistan were explained the main directions for further work on the implementation of the tasks set by the government in the framework of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.

The need to intensify bilateral negotiations on access to the market of goods and services with all WTO member countries and the signing of relevant protocols on their completion in order to accelerate the country’s entry into the Organization was noted.

As a result of the meeting, it was decided to hold meetings of this format on a regular basis in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of interaction, to constantly analyze the results of joint work, as well as to exchange ideas on further accelerating the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.
