Measures approved to meet the needs of Tashkent in electricity

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, by his resolution, approved measures to meet Tashkent’s electricity needs.

The resolution notes that two new solar photovoltaic power plants in Yukorichirchik district of Tashkent region will be built. The total capacity of the stations will be 1100 MW.

ACWA Power (Saudi Arabia) will build a 400 MW solar photovoltaic power plant. By the end of 2023, the company must launch the first phase of the 100 MW plant.

The Chinese company China Gezhouba Group intends to build a solar photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 700 MW. By the end of 2023, it is planned to complete the implementation of the first phase of the project. At the first stage, capacities of 100 MW will be put into operation.

The head of Uzbekistan instructed to modernize the power grid in Tashkent. In Shaykhantakhur, Yunusabad, Mirzo-Ulugbek, Yashnabad, Yangikhayot districts, five 110 kV substations (with a total capacity of 664 MVA) and about 50 km of high-voltage (35 and 110 kV) power lines will be built.

It is also planned to reconstruct 4 Tashkent substations and increase their capacity (total capacity 179 MVA). It was instructed to replace 49 km of power transmission cables.

The President instructed to upgrade 703 transformers and 2969 km of low voltage power networks.
