The collection came with bright colors, motley prints and embellishments. The flashes of orange, red, pink, blue, green, purple and beige complemented by feathers and rhinestones made for a fab collection.
The models sashayed down the catwalk clad in long flowing dresses that accentuated the curves of their bodies. Just as impressive were the tasteful pants, tunics and jackets. The British designer once said “The Matthew Williamson woman is feminine, fun and free-spirited, with a laid-back approach to glamour”, and the show in Tashkent bears testimony to these words.
Matthew Williamson is a unique success story within the British fashion industry. At the age of seventeen, he won a place on the Fashion and Textiles course at Central St. Martin’s College of Art and Design in London. Following his graduation in 1994, he concentrated on devising his own collection, whilst working part-time for fashion companies including Monsoon and Marni.
In September 1997, Matthew Williamson showed his debut collection, ‘Electric Angels’, during London Fashion Week. Bias cut dresses and separates in exotic shades of tangerine, fuchsia and magenta in the collection defined and set the pace for the highly recognizable Matthew Williamson signature aesthetic.
Mathew Williamson clothes are worn by celebrities such as Keira Knightley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Mischa Barton and Kate Hudson.
