Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 28 March 2019, a meeting was held at the Central Bank with representatives of the company MasterCard Europe.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation between two parties in the development of non-cash payments in the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as expanding the capabilities of the national payment system HUMO to maintain the functionality of using international payment cards.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a Protocol of Intent between the Central Bank and MasterCard Europe.

The document envisages expansion of interaction and cooperation in order to develop the payment industry and the infrastructure for accepting payment instruments in the HUMO payment system network, expanding the possibility of using MasterCards in the payment infrastructure being created, and also holding joint activities to improve the financial literacy of the population in Uzbekistan.

The parties also expressed a desire to expand the possibilities of international payments for citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan with HUMO payment cards using MasterCard payment instruments, the press service of the Central Bank said in a statement.
