Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The first round of negotiations was held between the Uzcharmsanoat Association and the Japanese trade corporation Marubeni Corporation on establishing partnerships for the export of finished leather and semi-finished leather from Uzbekistan to the markets of Europe and Asia.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Japanese company was provided with information on the activities of the Uzcharmsanoat Association, its enterprises and types of products, investment and export potential of the industry. The guests were also informed in detail about the conditions for business created in the country and benefits for foreign investors wishing to start their own business in Uzbekistan.
The Japanese corporation Marubeni was founded in 1958. Today it has 136 offices in 68 countries around the world. There are also 58 branches and representative offices. The main activities of the corporation are concentrated in sectors such as infrastructure, industry, forestry, agriculture, natural resources and energy.
The Marubeni office in Germany is engaged in the creation of the necessary raw material base for leather and footwear products and the production of finished leather.
There are 4 companies and 8 offices of the corporation in the CIS countries. In 1994, an office of the company was opened in Tashkent, which supplies equipment for the petrochemical, construction, textile, and mining industries of Uzbekistan. Also, the office supplies equipment for scientific laboratories and training centers.
Currently, the corporation’s Chinese partners are engaged in the production of finished leather goods and footwear. The Hamburg office of the corporation is engaged in the supply of raw materials to China, which is interested in exporting semi-finished leather products from Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, representatives of the organization in Uzbekistan expressed their proposals for cooperation with leather manufacturing enterprises - members of the Uzcharmsanoat Association in order to export wet blue from our country to Germany and China.
The management of the Uzcharmsanoat Association informed the Japanese side about the work carried out in our country today on the processing of leather raw materials and the production of finished leather products. In 2020, the enterprises-members of the Association produced 1,261 million sq. Dm of finished leather from processed leather raw materials. In the future, it is planned to process raw materials not only produced in our country, but also the skins of more than 49.1 million heads of cattle and small cattle from all over the CIS.
At the meeting, proposals were voiced by the Association for participation in the implementation and development of innovative programs within the development of the Aral Sea region.
They also exchanged views on the participation and support of the corporation in important processes related to the implementation of environmentally friendly projects in this area, the selection and application of the latest technologies that allow them to be implemented, including the introduction of innovative technologies for treatment facilities in the leather and footwear industry.
During the meeting, proposals were also put forward for cooperation in the creation of technology parks, including training and production centers, related to the activities of the leather and footwear industry.
Also, proposals were made to the representatives of the corporation to establish joint work on the introduction in Uzbekistan of certificates of conformity to international standards recognized in the international arena and used in Japan.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to comprehensively discuss the prospects for cooperation with the invitation to Uzbekistan of specialists from Germany in the next round of negotiations.
