Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- One person died and 69 were injured in an earthquake in Turkiye’s Malatya on Monday, Yunus Sezer, head of the Disaster Relief Administration (AFAD), said.
An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 occurred on Monday, the epicenter lay in the area of the city of Yesilyurt, Malatya province in the east of the country. At least 340 thousand people live in the city. The mayor of the city had previously reported the collapse of at least one building.
“Unfortunately, according to our data, one of our citizens died as a result of the earthquake, 69 people were hospitalized with various injuries,” Sezer said at a briefing on Monday.
