The Uzbek State Statistic Committee said in its report that the industrial output of the country rose by 12.7% to 23.679 trillion soums in the reporting period. Production of consumer goods increased by 17.7% to 7.436 trillion soums.
Agriculture output in Uzbekistan made up 10.479 trillion soums in the reporting period or up 4.5% year-on-year.
The report said the investments to fixed capital grew by 28.3% to 8.483 trillion soums in 2008.
Construction works for 3.48 trillion soums (up 8.3% year-on-year) were carried out in Uzbekistan in the reporting period.
The report said the retail trade turnover increased by 17.2% to 12.558 trillion soums last year. The volume of services, rendered to population, comprised 4.474 trillion soums or up 20.6% year-on-year.
Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan increased by 21.4% year-on-year to US$19.077 billion, of which US$11.572 billion (up 28.7%) fell to share of Uzbek exports and US$7.504 billion (up 11.5%) to share of Uzbek imports. Current account balance surplus made up US$4.068 billion in the reporting period, including US$807.1 million with the CIS countries and US$3.261 billion with other foreign countries.
