Mahalla and Family Support Ministry established in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Presidential Decree “On measures to improve the social and spiritual atmosphere in society, further support of the mahalla institute, and also to raise the system of work with families and women to a new level” was adopted.

In accordance with the Decree, a new system is being introduced in each makhalla, based on the principle of “Comfortable and safe mahalla”.

The decree established the Ministry for Support of the Mahalla and the Family of the Republic of Uzbekistan and its units in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions, the city of Tashkent, and districts (cities).

One of the main tasks and activities of the ministry is comprehensive assistance in the full and effective implementation of the principle of “Comfortable and Safe Mahalla” in society, establishing close cooperation with citizens’ self-government bodies to improve the social and spiritual atmosphere in families and mahallas.

According to the Decree, on the basis of the Scientific and Practical Research Center "Oila" under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Training, Methodological and Scientific Research Center "Mahalla", the Scientific Research Institute "Mahalla va oila" was formed and transferred to the structure of the ministry.

For information, the governing bodies of the Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan and the Republican Council for the Coordination of Activities of Citizens’ Self-Government Bodies made decisions on the abolition of these organizations.

Also, decisions of the Nuroniy Fund for Supporting the Public Activities of Veterans of Uzbekistan in the form of a public association on the abolition of the Karakalpak Republican, regional, Tashkent city and district (city) branches were adopted.
