Lukoil Overseas reports new gas discovery in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s Lukoil Overseas said on Friday it made a discovery of a new gas and condensate field on South-West Gissar block in Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan.

In the course of exploration drilling at Shurdaryo structure at a depth of three thousand meters, gas-bearing carbonate rocks of the Upper Jurassic age were revealed.

The company added that well testing resulted in the commercial flow rates of up to 650,000 cubic meters of gas and more than 70 tonnes of gas condensate per day.

Lukoil Overseas said that resource base of the Shurdaryo field will be determined after research of the well and interpretation of drilling materials. Based on the result, the decision will be adopted on further development of the field.

The product sharing agreement on the project was signed in January 2007 with the term of 36 years. It came into force in April 2007. LUKoil entered to the project in March 2008.

Proven reserves of the South West Gissar block amounted to 1.417 billion cubic feet of gas and 23 million barrels of oil and oil condensate as of 1 January 2011.
