The Brazilian tactician had been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in February following a series of disappointing results at Stamford Bridge.

Scolari, who had been linked with the Angola managerial position, was officially presented by Bunyodkor as their new coach on Wednesday.

"This is a very interesting project," claimed Scolari. "I will put all my effort into helping the development of football in Uzbekistan."

The former Portugal head coach has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with Bunyodkor, but stressed there is "an agreement in principle to extend it by 12 months if all parties are satisfied."

Scolari noted that he plans to have basic knowledge of the Russian language within the space of two months.
