Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The National Agency for Social Protection has announced a one-time financial assistance program for low-income families to help partially cover their gas and electricity costs for the winter period, from November to February.
The program will reach 1.4 million families, with each household receiving 270,000 soums. A budget of 370 billion soums has been allocated for this purpose.
According to the agency, the list of eligible families is being compiled with the support of the Inson Social Service Center, the Mahalla Association, and local governments. The list is expected to be finalized by the end of October.
Support will be provided to the following categories:
- Main List: This includes families already receiving child benefits and/or financial assistance through the "Unified Social Protection Register." This list covers 1.2 million households.
- Supplementary List: Approximately 180,000 additional families in need, not included in the main register, will receive support. This list will cover families without breadwinners, single mothers, persons with disabilities, and other socially vulnerable groups.
Payments will be credited to People’s Bank cards by 27 November. Additionally, the state will offer compensation for excess usage if a family exceeds the social consumption norm for electricity and gas. Further details on this will be provided later.
