Logistic complex Sergeli-Agrofresh launched in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A modern refrigerator logistic complex Sergeli-Agrofresh has been commissioned in Sergeli district of Tashkent on 28 July 2011, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan said in a statement.

Development of cold storage impacts all structure of food trades. Now farmers of Uzbekistan have to sell all products at the market in lower prices.

According Economic Review journal, at least 5% of fruits and vegetables are stored, while 40% of fruits and vegetables are lost due to poor storing conditions. In off-season, the prices for fruits and vegetables are growing sharply, while storage prices makes up 1-3% of their sales prices a month. Currently, major part of income from price differences goes to producers of other states and foreign buyers of Uzbek products.

Development of cold storage will allow local producers to keep part of products to off-season. This will also help achieve import-replacement and offer cheaper and better fruits and vegetables to population.

It is worth to note that in developed states, in particular the USA, up to 80% of foods are frozen products. The countries always store food products and they fully solved off-season problem.

If the storage technology is fully adhered, it is possible to store grapes from 3 to 6 months, apples, onion and vegetables – up to 8-9 months. Development of such technologies is task of new complex Sergeli-Agrofresh.

Logistic complex Sergeli-Agrofresh was created in line with the decision of the Government to rehabilitate and reanimate unused and unconstructed industrial and other objects. The programme offers to realize objects to investors on zero redemption prices for return of investments to create production capacity.

Open joint stock commercial Aloqabank constructed new logistic complex Sergeli-Agrofresh at premises, which was unused for over 25 year. During this period, several investors tried to construct complex, but only Aloqabank achieved it. Construction of the complex was started in May 2010 and it was completed within a year and the bank leased it to management company.

This year, the government of Uzbekistan approved wide-scale programme on developing cold warehouses till 2015, which envisages construction of new and reconstruction of existing objects in all regions of Uzbekistan.

Modern refrigerator logistic complex Sergeli-Agrofresh is largest in Uzbekistan. It has 14,000 square meters premises and can store 10,000-16,000 tonnes of products.

The complex is equipped with refrigerating equipment of the European states. Turkey’s Karsu Sogutma SAN ve TIC. A. S. Equipped the complex. Turkish company has great experience in this area and carried out projects in Europe, Asia and Africa. The company carries out 80% of orders of Agriculture Ministry of Turkey and it constructed over 1,000 objects in Turkey.

Sergeli-Agrofresh can now accept simultaneously 7 railway refrigerator cars and up to 10 large dimension trucks. Soon, it is planned to render custom warehouse service.

The main aim is to make so that entrepreneur can come to one place and within a day place its cargo to warehouse. At the same time, entrepreneur can use services of office and kitchen.

It is worth to mention that price formation for use of warehouse is formed individually and it is based on calculations, which depends on type and assortment of products, size and type of package. The price for storage is determined separately.
