Liability for illegal use of unmanned aerial vehicles is being mitigated

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the forty-ninth plenary meeting of the Senate, the Law “On amendments and additions to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on administrative liability in connection with the liberalization of liability for certain categories of criminal acts” was discussed.

As the senators noted, the country is carrying out reforms aimed at further democratization and liberalization of the judicial and legal system, increasing the efficiency of the judicial, law enforcement and supervisory authorities, ensuring the rule of law and strengthening the rule of law in society. Laws are adopted based on the ideas of humanism and justice.

The discussed Law envisages the introduction of a new rule into the Code of Administrative Liability, providing for administrative liability for the illegal import, sale, acquisition, storage or use of unmanned aerial vehicles, components and spare parts for them.

In particular, it establishes the confiscation at the expense of the state of unmanned aerial vehicles identified as a result of an administrative offense, the release of a person who committed illegal actions from liability upon voluntary surrender of unmanned aerial vehicles, components and spare parts for them, and the consideration of cases of administrative offenses of this category by criminal courts affairs.

Also, Article 2444 of the Criminal Code includes in these sanctions such types of punishment as an alternative fine, correctional labor, restriction of freedom, that is, such actions provide for criminal liability if they are committed after the application of an administrative penalty.

The law establishes not criminal, but administrative liability of persons who commit this offense for the first time, which, in turn, according to senators, serves to prevent the growth of crimes of this kind in society.

Following the discussion, the Law was approved by the senators.
