It was underlined that the economy of Uzbekistan grew by 8.1% in nine months of 2013, industrial output – 9.4%, agriculture production – 6.8%, retail trade – 14.7% and services – 13%.
The session noted that machinery and metal processing industry (24.7%), light industry (15.3%), production of construction materials (12.1%), food industry (8.6%) recorded high growth rate in nine months of 2013. Total share of these industries in industrial production rose from 47.4% in nine months of 2012 to 51.4% in the same period of 2013.
The foreign trade surplus of Uzbekistan made up over US$1 billion in the reporting period. The state budget was executed with surplus.
It was stated that the expense part of the State budget focused on financing social sphere, including education, healthcare, payment of salaries and pensions, etc. The MPs criticized untargeted use of the budget resources.
MPs also discussed introduction of the Budget Code of Uzbekistan as an experiment from 1 January 2014 for 2014-2015. MPs said that this will help to unify legislation in budget sphere into one legal document and systematize authorities of the participants of the budget process.
