MPs of Legislative Chamber, officials of state bodies, information sector specialists, mass media and civil society institutes participated at the event.
It was noted that information-communication technologies sector is developing gradually in Uzbekistan and opens new opportunity for economy, as well helps to earn hard currency and implement import-replacement policy.
It was said that software sector development helped to boost economies of India, Ireland, China and other countries.
The session noted that Uzbekistan created favourable conditions for development of software industry. Several laws were adopted, including law “On Communication”, law “On Information”, “On telecommunication”, etc.
It was said that number of companies, developing software, was 100 in 2005, their number reached 241 in 2011. Production of software grew five times in 2007-2010.
The session noted that the Uzbek companies are developing software to compete with foreign vendors. However, it was said that the volume of market and its export is small, while there are low number of software directed to ensure national information security.
