The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan held its regular session on 11-12 November. Prime minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev, members of the Cabinet and heads of national organizations participated in the session, chaired by the speaker of the Legislative Chamber Dilorom Tashmuhamedova.
First vice prime minister and Finance minister Rustam Azimov made a report on the draft state budget for 2009, and the chairman of the parliamentary Commitee for budget and economic reforms made a co-report. The Legislative Chamber approved the budget for 2009 and passed a corresponding resolution.
The member of the Commitee for labor and social issues B.Soatov presented the draft law on obligatory insurance of civil liability of the employer in the third reading. The chamber passed the law.
The member of the Committee for information and communication technologies F.Soliyev made a report on the draft law on introducing changes in the law on postal communication (second reading). The lower chamber of the parliament passed the law.
The chamber also passed the laws on introducing changes in separate legislative acts in connection with improvement of the activity of the ombudsman (first reading), on joining the facultative protocol to the convention on the rights of the child related to children’s participation in armed conflicts and on joining the facultative protocol to the convention on the rights of the child related to trafficking in children, child prostitution and child pornography (New York, 25 May 2000).
Other passed laws are on introducing changes in legislative acts in connection with improvement of the Bar (first reading), on technical regulation (third reading), on introducing changes in the Tax Code of Uzbekistan (first reading), and on introducing changes in the legislative acts in connection with improvement of the tax legislation (first reading).
